I love learning about stories that relate to the success principles of running a business and how they can make a huge difference in grasping a concept and applying it to a business to help make it better.

The story of a common principle that both the Lion and an Antelope must live by in order to survive is one that has stuck with me during my journey as an entrepreneur.

The story describes the following:

Every morning when they awake the antelope knows that it must run faster than the swiftest lion or it will be caught and eaten.

Every morning when the lion awakes it knows that it must run faster than the slowest antelope and catch it or it will starve.

The moral of the story is that whether you are a lion or an antelope whenever you get up you better be running. It’s a matter of survival.

What’s that got to do with marketing? Everything. Every day, if you want your business to survive and thrive, you better be marketing.

Marketing is the lifeblood of any business that makes it.

Marketing is everything that a business does that makes a prospect or customer aware of what a business has to offer and more importantly how what is offered solves a problem the prospect or customer might be experiencing.

It is used to educate, support, inspire, entertain, provide value, and ultimately to make a sale.

Like the lion and the antelope, every day, a business must show how its product or service is different, distinct, or unique from those of a competitor or it will be lost in the masses of competitors that are doing the same thing and getting little or no attention from those that might purchase what is being offered.

Every day a business must be faster and more effective with reacting to the latest new trend that shows where the best opportunities are for creating its brand or positioning for a sale or it will be forgotten and left with inventory that is not sold or services that are not engaged.

Whether you are a startup or an established business. Every day when the business opens up you better be marketing just like the lion or antelope better be running.
